We are big fans of simplicity and speed, especially with technology used on a regular basis. We believe that in the 21st century, the only acceptable applications are the ones that do exactly what you want, when you want. The array of sites within the Program Everything Network are all based on efficiency and ease-of-use. Life is short, so let's not waste our time!
The
Program Everything Network was founded in 2011 by
Corey Schario and
Timothy Burgess to address the issues of outdated freelance aggregation methods. In an age where location is no longer an issue and communication is key to execution, the current job auction sites just don't cut it. There is too much clutter; and finding the jobs, workers, and information you seek is overly complicated. We aim to provide the best possible user experience for anyone and everyone looking for freelancers, freelance jobs, top scripts and examples to help coders with everyday challenges, tutorials for those who want to learn from the best of the best, and forums for those who want to stay up to date with their favorite programming languages.
One glaring annoyance we've noticed throughout the major freelance sites is the amount of bidder spam. We've worked to solve this problem by including a unique pay-per-bid feature to the bidding process. Bidders pay a fee, logarithmically based on the bid amount, small enough to not break the bank, but large enough to deter bidders from bidding on a few dozen jobs a day. We see a recurring problem on many outsourcing sites where bidders are bidding on multiple jobs completely irrelevant to their field of expertise. This leads to a lot of wasted time for both the employers and legitimate bidders. Employers have to sift through the irrelevant bids and in a lot of cases, as a result, legitimate bids get overlooked. The pay-per-bid model is our solution to this problem.
Another issue we address with the
Program Everything Network is the filtering of unwanted information. Most freelance aggregation sites currently have filtering of some kind, but it is typically limited to only a couple of criteria and wading through all of that information can become cumbersome. We've given users the ability to create multiple site-wide filters on feeds to be cycled through at any time. It begins with the website address for targeting specific programming languages and ends with the ability to filter everything from date ranges to specific tags and keywords. The home feed consists of entries from every category (jobs, scripts, news, etc.), while entries from just those categories can be viewed as well.
We've also given users multiple mini-feeds as you'll see up top after logging in. Users remain informed about all important activity related to them. The funds feed allows users to keep a detailed log of every transaction made on the
Program Everything Network. The jobs feed notifies employers and bidders of every action related to jobs posted, bids made, milestones achieved, and payment statuses. The ratings and comments feed keeps users up to date with every rating, comment, and reply received. And of course, the messages feed allows users to quickly chat with each other.
And unlike nearly every other freelance aggregator, we don't try to stop users from exchanging links or e-mail addresses. We have more faith in our users than that. Plus, we think it is much better to keep users around with great content served through a straightforward, positive environment than try to keep them around through manipulative censorship.
